When we founded the company in late 2023 and early 2024, we identified a clear and pressing problem: climate and carbon data was unreliable, opaque, and fragmented. Many companies reported data, but no one had a reliable way to collect and consolidate it. That’s where the name Climate Tracker Initiative AB came from – a direct reflection of the problem we set out to fix.
It didn’t take long to realise this wasn’t unique to climate data. It was a fundamental, structural issue running through the entire landscape of non-financial – and financial – data that institutional investors rely on every single day.
As our scope expanded, so did the gap between what we do and what our name suggested. Clients came with assumptions, and we spent more time explaining what we weren’t than what we were. Eventually, most people just called us CTI – which said nothing at all, but at least sounded data-ish.
So we went back to basics.
We believe that every data point, every figure, every source should be traceable, auditable, and free from the black-box treatment that has become standard in the legacy ESG data industry. No more accepting numbers without knowing where they come from. No more manual offshore processes dressed up as sophisticated services.
That belief has a name now: Cleartraced – a name that stands behind us as much as we stand behind it.
As a new chapter begins, our brand identity is getting a fresh look to match. Stay tuned – there’s a lot more to come.
